what distro is best for boat anchor?

i want to install linux on an old Pentium 2 laptop, i think it has a 5g HD, 300mhz or something around there. what distro do you suggest installing that does not take tons of space and will run on a slow machine.

Depends on what you want to do, but if you want a general desktop, you probably want something like Damn Small Linux. You can also install a base Debian system and then build a lightweight gui on top of it. I've got Debian Sarge running on a Celeron 400MHz (approx P233MHz) that works okay.

This question has never been asked before. You wouldn't find an answer if you searched LQ, or Google <Linux>. I'm so glad you asked it. The only possible solution is to run Winders KDE Unstable...

If you can't find that, then you have no other choice but to run Slackware Linux! That's the ONLY distro worth running. You're obligated.
