What's the best distro for a home file/print server w/ windows clients

My home network consists of 2 laptops that connect to a file and print server via a wifi router. The server is connected directly to the router. I used to run Windows XP pro on the server but it took a dump and now won't let me reinstall windows (installation of XP, 2000, and even 98 hangs and won't complete, but that's another issue). I've been looking to move to a linux server anyway.

I tried using Kubuntu 6 because I had experience with it but Samba is impossible to set up on it. I attempted to install Suse 10.2 last night but after the install there is no internet access...

Any thoughts on something that will make a nice, simple windows file and print server?

It really depends on how you understand nice and simple. For me it would be Debian base system (without GUI) + Samba. Easy on resources, simple to install and maintain.

Take a look at some of the specialized distros.
