Viewing Windows partitions in Redhat 8

I just started using Redhat Linux about a month ago and just this week I've really started getting into it. I love it! I've got a duel boot system with redhat 8 and win 2000 and i've been able to get redhat to see my hda1 (Windows C drive) however I also have a second hard drive full of mp3s that is, from what I can tell, known as hdc to redhat. For some reason I can't mount this drive. I think this drive is fat32 not NTFS like my C drive. I thought redhat was able to see fat32? Is this the case? Or do I need to download something to make it viewable? If so where can I download it? Thanks in advance for your help and I hope to be a regular visitor to your board and the linux community! Thanks!

have you tried going to /mnt/windows?

that's where the c drive resides.

Thumbs up

I would check the /etc/fstab file to see what is mounting. If the filesystem is NTFS, you need the NTFS module, since there is no direct support for it in rh8 and below (hopefully in Phoebe!!). You can get the module here:

http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/info/redhat.html

Keep us updated. Good Luck

"mount -t vfat /dev/hdc /mnt/hdc"

...Ok, i have both Red Hat 8 and Mandrake 9.
The windows (and other linux distribuitions) partitions aren't mounted by default in Read hat 9, so you really have to edit the fstab file....And create the folders before mounting anything on it lol
