Unhappy Vida linux cool but :(


Hi

I have vida linux 1.1 686 1.iso cd installed.But how can i configure my network?
And how do i know which programs i installed.How can i use kde desktop?
Is there any programs like apt-get and dpkg?

thanx.

0. Login as root on Gnome to do these things:

1. Configure your network? Applications -> System Tools -> Networking Settings
2. Dunno
3 & 4. Yes, Vida Linux does use the "Porthole Portage Fronted" (emerge), go to Applications -> System Tools -> Porthole Portage Fronted.
(=Before you install any application click on "SYNC", or you'll mess up your system), now you can search things like kde (you also could type in your terminal: emerge --sync, and to install kde: emerge kde)

It will take a while to install it because your system has to compile every package. But after the installation you'll get a fully optimized program
