using up2date with RedHat 9

Hi,

I finally got around to using up2date with RH9 and I find it quite good and informative listing necessary packages etc. I tested it by getting one package which I installed manually. (successfully). However I noticed when I logged in again the same package was listed as an upgrade online. Should I not install the packages manually or should I install in from the default /spool/var/up2date directory? I notice .hdr files in here too and maybe these have something to do with it.

I have noticed that sometimes when updating if you have not restarted that service that the package is accociated with sometimes RHN picks it up as not being updated yet. Atleast it is some thing I have noticed with RH9 I dont usually have this problem on my RH 7.3 box

Update your installation using up2date, and if you find that the RHN account doesn't match what you have installed (because you applied some updates manually), try out: up2date -p
