Using Knoppix to scan Windows for Viri-How?

I bought Kyle Rankin's excellent book "Knoppix Hacks" and one of the main reasons was to scan Windows machines with Knoppix for viri using f-prot. He explains it for Knoppix 3.4 but I can't make it work with 3.9 which I'm using. When I go to the f-prot website there are Windows versions and Linux versions. i want to run it on Linux but scan and disinfect Windows. I've been googling and looking around but there doesn't seem to be any easy way to do this. I tried the method Rankin describes in his book but there isn't an option to select it in 3.9 as he describes. Then I tried a command line method I googled:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install f-prot
It returned no such package.

I also tried using 4.0 the DVD version with no luck.

Any guru's have any ideas how I can make this work? I'm a relative newbie so please use small words!

THE PROGGIE F-Prot Antivirus for Linux Workstations 4.6.0 I found it here... (
try that url.

also your'll have to make your windoze partition/h-disk as read and write for knoppix to use it. try lookin in the book for r/w mode on windoze.

never used f-prot, but there a feature on knoppix to install 'some' s/ware

hope this might help you...
