User login problems for Red Hat 7.2
Please help me track down a login failure for Red Hat Linux v7.2 with KDE.
Currently, the only KDE gui login Linux recognizes is "root"
I (and several others) created user logins with the GUI user manager and the command line.
We ARE able to telnet, rlogin, and ftp'dfrom remote computers without problems. No local login through the kde gui.
We believe this may be a KDE gui error.
1. How do force Linux 7.2 to open to a login prompt rather than the KDE login?
2. Any other suggestions???
I run an AMD 900MHz w/512MB RAM. Linux 7.2 and KDE desktop.
Linux is installed with MOST options -- less mobile & development. The CDs are from the Osbourne Book "The Complete Reference, Red Hat Linux, Second Edition".
I also put this on the security forum and received a response about init 3 and the /etc/inittab file this didn't seem to work.
