Question USB tape backup

I want to get a USB based tape backup that will handle gigabytes of data. This is for a laptop that I have running SuSE 7.1. It has both PCMCIA slots occupied (2 ethernet cards, one internal & the other connects to a wireless modem).

Is there anyone out there who has had experience with such devices and could give me a heads up on the +/- of them?
