Upgrading to Suse
 

I have heard that Redhat9 support will be discontinued soon.
I am considering buying Suse.
From what I have read, it seems more suited to the home user than Redhat.
Ive looked at what comes with Suse pro and am impressed.
I want a linux distro that has nore GUI tools for setting up hardware, this imho is lacking in Redhat.Does Suse have a graphical rpm install/uninstall tool?
What advantages does it have over Redhat?

Suse isn't a bad choice for a desktop distro, but if you're looking for a gui driven distro and you're willing to shell out a couple of bucks you should take a look at Xandros.
It come with plenty of stuff pre-configured, plus you have apt-get installed and ready to go.
Also it's Debian-based so no more rpm dependency hell!!!

Xandros looks interesting but their websites serverly lacking info,

why cant xandros?

Suse support is non-existant. I submitted two questions to them I have not received an answer. (Of course I then discovered LQ where all my questions get answered!).

You're abslutely right, the Xandros website offers little information about the packages they ship with the distro.
However, when reading reviews you can get a pretty accurate idea of what's included.

Plus, like I said, you have apt-get and since Xandros 2 is based on Debian Testing you can install virtually every package available for Debian, and that's a lot, believe me.
