upgrading the kernel with up2date

Hi all!

I was finally able to install RH 7.3 (the graphical install won't work so I opted for text and everything was fine) and I was finally able to share my Win2K laptop's internet connection with my linux box (apparently it was a breeze).....

I was so happy I finally got things to work that I just installed everything up2date had to offer, including a new kernel.

But now I wonder, was this a good idea?

yes, why not. It's no major difference in rh7.3 kernels anyway (same kernel, new package)

Yes it was a good idea. It just updates your kernel package from 2.4.18-3 to 2.4.18-5 which corrects various problems. It also automaticly edits your bootmanager so you can boot the new kernel. There should be choices "Linux" and "Linux backup" in lilo/grub.

Thanks,

For a second there I got nervous when I saw 2 options in grub...
