Updating Lunar Linux

I was very busy for a few years and did not update Lunar Linux during that time. I went back to the iso that I originally used and googled for the latest process of getting from there to current with no success. I tried on 32 and 64 bit architectures and single and multi-core machines. My diary had a method also, but that no longer works. Does anyone have a procedure that works currently?

For a distro not updated that long I recommend a clean install from a new install medium instead of upgrading.

If you want to stay with it
do a fresh NEW clean install using the current 1.6.5 iso

if you HAVE a 64 bit computer use a 64 bit ISO

Lunar Linux livrs

I tried John's suggestion but there a many circular dependencies in trying to very carefully bring a rolling distribution from a 2.6 kernel starting point. As careful as I was, I always managed to get to an unstable state in converting to a systemd init sequence. I tried the Arch Linux approach and almost made it, when I discovered there is a 1.7.0-dev5 set of 32 and 64 bit development isos. That solved the problem and I'm trying to keeping my rolling distributions updated more regularly from now on. This resolves the problem.

if you are referring to me "John's suggestion "
then that was
back up your data off the computer
( dvd or usb back up drive)
reformat the drives ( ext3 or 4 or just blank it )
install the NEW OS and or let the installer reformat the drive

and use a NEW fresh clean NEW install

a inplace "upgrade" will not likely work
