translation process
 

Hi, lately I in schools there has been a process-us of introducing both creole and bhojpuri as teaching stuff for kids.

There are no distro to cater for these languages.

Linux is very much present in the everyday life of mauritians without them acknowledging it. There is a lotto system that is very popular that uses {GNU}/inux , its only when the machine boots and Tux logo appears with its lot of kernel messages below that did I know its a {GNU}/Linux box.

In every shops that deal with `lotto' have them and the shopkeepers do not even know they are using Linux nor do the people who are buying lotto. And from the info I have these guys do not undergo an intensive training in linux.

I'm looking forward to add these languages into any distro to help these kids and create a new wave of UNIX{linux BSD...} users and contributors.

PS : I cannot officially start a business since I 'm working at MMS, PMO ie government. So ideas towadrs this is closed for the moment.

No single distro caters to any language.
They probably are 'live' distros that boot from CD/DVD, or have a VERY minimal interface. These are custom-created for specific purposes, like kiosks.
Yes...contact a distro that you like, and offer to do a translation. That's how Linux gets ported to different languages...Mint, Ubuntu, and Fedora all have pages where you contact them about doing translations.

And you mention a 'business'...Linux contributors don't get paid. If you want to do it, do it for free...that's how Linux works. Otherwise, get a job with one of the distributions, and they'll pay you to do it.

I note that even the Indian distro BOSS doesn't support Bhojpuri, probably because it's not an official language. There are a lot of people in the world who'd like that changed, I suspect. I'd say the place to start is a dictionary for Hunspell. If you use the same script as Hindi, there'll no problem with handling that. Translating messages is a later job, and a huge one. Even state languages are not fully supported; I've just found that a Dane has to use Claws-mail in English.

I do not want to support only one distro but a whole lot .


What I wanted to point out is to employ people and by business is a sort of reward for them so that I can make GNU more popular.

Here Linus said `Linux succeeded thanks to selfishness and trust' and its this kind of selfishness I want to promote. I use Slackware but but I found its better to support other user friendly distro so that newbies can get attracted.


Lately many people are asking me about backtrack5 since they want to crack wireless networks that are found in there perimeters. I finding it difficult to support due to ethics.


PS :: My idea is very clear in my mind but I have a kind of problem of translating it into something normal humans can understand.

Great...so contribute to them all. Again, no one is stopping you.
Right...people wanted what THEY wanted, so they just DID it. So, if you want that language supported, then DO IT. Contribute the translation.
Nothing complicated about it...you want Linux in a language that's not supported. So, you can either do it and contribute to the OS, wait for someone else to do it, or live without that language being supported. Those are your choices.
