Toshiba Satellite T1910; i486 Pentium I; no coprocessor or math emulation.
 

I have a Toshiba Satellite T1910 (laptop) with a i486 intel pentium I processor with no coprocessor, no math emulation, very little RAM, and 200mb hard drive. (I can give more info if needed)
Now, I screwed up. I had DOS 5.2, Windoz 3.1, and suposedly 95 somewhere.... well... you can tell that sucked as a computer. BUT IT'S A TOSHIBA. So, I fdisked the harddrive to have just DOS, and well.... it didn't like that. So now I have a computer with no OS that can't do anything but boot from a DOS.

NOW ON TO WHERE LINUX\UNIX COMES IN.

I actually wanted to turn this wonderful peace on machinery into a properly running system with eaither UNIX : ) or LINUX : ) X2.
But... now a'days it's as crap getting an OS that can boot up form floppy, and to add to that, all the versions I've tried wont work, or I need DOS or linux to write them...yes...I have windoz XP, because I game. So, if anyone know's what I need to do to get this to run with an OS please respond here and\or contact me at LordDonQuixote@netscape.net

should work just fine.
the rawrite program (included in the download) lets you use windose to make linux floppies.

I'm not sure how exactly to check the RAM with out an OS...lol. But I'll try the link. And get back and see if it works.

OK... no that one didn't work. It ran out of memoryVFS: Mounted root (minix filesystem).
then it did this wierd:
init: '/lib/libc.so.5' is not an ELF file
init: '/lib/libc.so.5' is not an ELF file
init: can't load library 'libc.so.5'
So I don't think it has enough memory...I think it's a 4mb RAM system.

I tried that pocket linux on another computer, and it's just a network thingy. I want to use it was a stand alone system that can run linux\unix programs....there has to be one.... I would settle with unix terminal as long as it ran programs...

I can't believe I didn't think of this before. Installs from floppies, needs only 4 megs ram and 20 Mb Hard drive space. And it's upgradeable. And it's Slackware :)

(again, I'm using windows XP to do this) and I haven't used DOS since the stone age. Is there a direct set of instructions I can follow to do this withought doing it over and over again, and going through all the BS of: in DOS do this and in Terminal do that? I have RAWWRITE, I just don't know what all I need to do this. AND I don't know how to load a Kernel. I only have an around idea of what a kernal even is. : ) thanks again for all the help.
