Hi,
I have a problem while trying using telnet from outside to my Linux cluster. I guess it is because of the firewall configuration. When I install RedHat 7.2, I chose the option Medium and use default firewall rules. Now, when I'm trying to run Kickstart Configurator again to change those options (i.e allow incoming telnet, ftp...), I'm really confused about how do I make those changes become affect. I mean, when I select those options (allow incoming telnet, ftp... and switch from Medium to disabled), then I save that file, and then all it does is it create a new file "ks.cfg" in my home directory. I don't think those change become affect yet; the file is still there. Even I use chmod to switch the "ks.cfg" file become excutable file, and then run that script; however, it doesn't solve the problem.
I thought changing those options should be easy, but it looks very confused to me compared to other Linux variations that I have experienced.
what do u mean by telnetd? Is it a file in /etc directory?
In SuSE, I can fix this issue easily by changing the file /etc/inetd.conf. However, now I'm dealing w/ RedHat, and I couldn't find any place in /etc to let me turn on the telnet application.
At the time I install, I chose option firewall=Medium, and select using default firewall rules (I don't know where to find those rules either). I guess there should be a way to chnage those options.
Thansk for response!
