Thumbs down SystemRescueCD, what are they doing?

Downloaded and started last version of SystemRescueCD. Font in LXDE terminal has very ugly anti-aliasing (more blurry at the top and less at the bottom; looks like incorrect LCD monitor settings). Also other fonts in the distro have ugly anti-aliasing which seems to be a bit different from terminal. A couple years ago they had normal fonts, no smoothing. Now it hurts my eyes! Why in the world do they do it?
