It also appears to have a few serious sound problems. at least on the couple computers I tried it on.

So far with the live-eval I am not impressed. I have been using Suse for awhile now and was looking forward to upgrading when it is released. I was going to buy it,, but after the eval I believe I will wait for them to start allowing the FTP install on 9.0 and try it out before buying it.

It is just a live CD. It does not install anything to your HD. It is kinda like Knoppix except it does not load near as fast. All you can do is run it from the CD, you can not install it. It is mainly so you can see how it detects your hardware and let you see what you think about it before you buy it. Once they release 9.0 they will after awhile allow you to do a FTP install. I am not sure on how long they wait to allow that.

They already released 9.0. On the 15th. They wait 2-3 weeks before releasing it to ftp, giving plenty of time to get it copied to all their mirrors.

It was released in Europe on the 15th. If you are in the states it will not be shipped till the 24th. Pre-sales only are all you can do right now.

That's all well and good. Perhaps you can explain this Suse 9.0 Professional package that I've had on my desk since the morning of the 15th? Kinda odd of them to mail it to me to arrive the 15th, and to put on their US webpage that its been released, if they havent released it yet.

They've had it off of presale since the 15th...

***edit

Come on now. If it has been off presale since the 15th, how did you have it on your desk the morning of 15th. Hey I don't know what to say. You might have had it since the 15th, but don't give me no crap about it. I have been checking the SUSE site everyday since mid September trying to get any info I could on it. On the suse.com/us site it has been saying for a couple of weeks Pre-Sales only will be shipped on Oct. 24th, until this evening it has been removed. So don't give me this refresh your browser mess. So if you have had it since the 15th I would be curious as to where you got it. Either that or your at home with a hard on trying to impress a few people in a forum blowing smoke up their a** about have a distro before it was released.

Look, I really don't know what your problem is.

The suse Pre-Order page dissapeared for me on the 15th. The exact same day that my copy arrived. I can't even find any mention of the 24th except in outside, 3rd party reviews!
Here is the exact page that I get now, when I go to order it. This includes 20.95 for Overnight Priority Delivery to the Lower 48 continental United states.

If your seeing something other than this.. YOU ARE. I am not. I have a copy. I love it, its great! It fixed a lot of acpi related issues for me! I'm gonna break out kernel 2.6 off the dvd soon as I feel brave enough and find out how everything works.
Can anyone else confirm seeing the page with Suse 9.0 Pro already shipping? As I do?

Order Number: DR69825###
SuSE LINUX Professional 9.0
$79.95
Shipping Method
$20.95
To remove an item, enter 0 in the quantity box & click on the "Update Total" button.
Total
$100.90

Note that this amount stays the same, with no messages about delayed shipment, all the way to the final, click to confirm order page, after entering credit card info and all!

Alright then. If you still have a problem with this.

Go to www.suse.com

Click on the big face with the words "HOME USERS" above it.

Click on the Far Right tab labeled, in large letters "ONLINE STORE"

Then open your eyes and pay attention the 24pt font that says "NOW SHIPPING" directly under Suse 9.0 Professional.

Next time, know what your talking about.
