Hi! I am currently using Kubuntu 5.10 Brezzy and I want to try SuSE Linux 10.0. The reason I want to try SuSE, coz i want to know if its better than Kubuntu. Sometimes, kubuntu failed me, my external devices does not work well, sometimes it detect sometimes not.
Just to let you know what I'm doing in my computer so you could give me more accurate comments.
1. I am using apache, php and mysql for my self-study and I do a little php programing.
2. I also so a little python.
3. chat on ym, email and word processing.
4. I also do a little networking with firewall (firestarter)
5. I also so a web and graphics design
6. Burn dvd's and cd's
7. I am using chinese input (FCITX)
Another reason I want to try suse is I want to install IBM Websphere and IBM DB2 and IBM Lotus, but its only in rpm. so I hoped it will work SuSE.
To add a little spicies. Which you prefer? Ubuntu/ Kubuntu 5.10 Breezy or (openSUSE) SuSE Linux 10.0? I hope you could nail down your comments and suggestion for my reference.
PS: I am using DELL Inspiron 700m notebook computer...
Suse can do all those things in your list (so can most Linux distros) so go ahead and try it. Personally I am not a fan of Ubuntu or Kubuntu. I recently tried the latest versions and they just seem like any other Debian based distro but with newish packages. I really can't figure out what the hype is all about because there are other distros out there, that are a lot better in terms of features, ease of use and installation as well as all round polish.
