SuSE 9.1 + Sata HD

Right,
Since trying to install linux lasttime I have had a harddrive fail. I know have a 120gb seagate barracuda sata.

it uses a promise fasttrak sata 376 controller, and to install 9.1 I believe for it to see this drive, I must find these drivers.

On the promise website, they do have it listed for SuSE 9.0, but not for 9.1... so how do I compile them or is there someone else who has already done this?

Thanks

I don't know if you need it for 9.1. 9.0 used a 2.4 kernel and 9.1 uses a 2.6 kernel. SATA support in 2.6 is pretty good; there's none in 2.4 with the exception of 2.4.27 which was released last week. I have the same drive on an intel mb(865perl) which has on board sata support and mdk10(kernel2.6.3) found it and installed just fine. My guess is that suse9.1 would work fine to. Try it. If the install program finds the drive you should be fine.
