SuSe 9.1 Bootloader and Internet Update thing

Well I seem to have two problems with SuSe 9.1:

1. Bootloader won't run, when I boot it only says Grub, and then nothing, if I chose lilo as bootloader I get "L 99 99 99..." 99 for about 5 lines, and then nothing.
I got two hdd's, one 80gb(wd) with windows on it, and one 120gb(maxtor) where 30gb of it is linux. I set it so that the bootloader is on the mbr of the windows drive, also tryied some other settings but I can't get past it, only way I can boot is booting from dvd and then selecting boot partition.

2. When I do the Internet-Update, with new kernel and all on bootup a lot of things fail (soundcard, network, mount of ntfs...) it says smth like "/lib/modules/2.6.4-52-default/modules.dep no such file or dir".

Tanx in advance

I had a bunch of the same problems yesterday.

If you have the boot disk/CD the best thing to do is probably choose the "repair" option after starting an install/update.

YaST will go through and find all the essential packages that you didn't get the first time through.
This cleared up most of the problems with missing modules/libraries.

During the repair process, you will be asked if your bootloader is okay, to which you should respond (obviously) that it isn't. Grub wasn't finding anything for me either, but when I repaired it, it showed which options would be available in the boot menu. You just want to make sure that Linux is there.

Otherwise, if you really need to work in some sort of graphical environment, you can choose to boot into a previously installed version of SuSE from the boot CD.

I hope some of this helps.

I still can't connect to the internet even though I just did a full ftp install...

Rock,
Mark
