Suse 9.1 and apt-get
I followed the tuorial from suse as well as I could figure. When I try to run apt-get, I get the following error no matter what package I am trying to install.
us@linux:~> su Password: linux:/home/us # apt-get install superkaramba error: cannot get exclusive lock on /var/lib/rpm/Packages error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - Operation not permitted (1) error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm E: could not open RPM database linux:/home/us # This is what my etc/apt/sources.list looks like # Uncomment the line below, in case you want to use SuSE's patch rpms. # Read the information about patch rpms at http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm rpm ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/9.1-i386 base update-prpm update kde gnome xfree86 xorg mozilla samba3 suser-rbos suser-gbv usr-local-bin suser-tcousin suser-scorot funktronics packman packman-i686 kernel-of-the-day wine suse-projects kde3-stable security-prpm security rpm ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/ SuSE/9.1-i386 update-prpm security-prpm # A very basic sources.list line. It happens if I am looged in as a user and su to root, or if I log in as root. Thanks for any help. |
the first long list is all you need, you can comment or delete the rest.
try a sux - or sux -c to stay in the present directory instead of a su you might want to do a 'SuSEconfig' then try again. next problem, superkaramba is not available on the suse mirrors, sorry. EDIT: second look and the mirrors, it is available, its just called 'karamba' |
