recently i tried to install Lotus Notes 6.5.1 in Wine to not avail.
i've successfully install wine and run notepad.exe on Suse 9.0 so i guess my wine installation is successfull.

here is the errors, any ideas?

Bit old, but I solved this by changing a line in ~/.wine/config from

"msvcrt" = "native, builtin"
to
"msvcrt" = "builtin, native"

Not trying to thread jack but wine is made to run ms programs in linux correct? I'm trying to install this myself but I'm a linux newbie. What folder do I start with in wine? I've extracted the files then what?

That depends on what files you extracted. If you got a source package, then entering the top wine directory, and typing

Code:

./configure
make
su (and enter your root password)
make install

*should* install wine. (This is the standard method. I haven't checked wine.)

It would help if I knew your distribution, though. There are usually better (easier) ways of doing this.

Suse 9.0 personal. I've downloaded the file wine-20040912-SuSeLinux81.i586.rpm (I can't get this one to do anything) the second one I downloaded that I was able to right clikc and "extract" was Wine 20040914.tar.gz. Does that help?

That does help.

You want the file wine-20040914-SuSELinux90.i586.rpm (note the 90 in the filename. That means SuSE v 9.0)

Download that one, open a console window, go to wherever you downloaded it, and type:
su (enter your root password)
rpm -i wine-20040914-SuSELinux90.i586.rpm

(This would be a good time to mention that Linux has command-line tab completion.)
