SuSE 9.0 Pro 64-bit Version Won't Recognize SATA RAID Array

I want to learn about SuSE and move to Linux OS. So, I have purchased SuSE 9.0 Pro 64-bit version, and built a server with a ASUS K8V SE Deluxe motherboard, AMD 3000+ Athlon 64-bit CPU, 1GB Memory and 2 SATA Seagate 160GB drives which are part of a RAID array configured using the Promise FastBuild utility. When I boot the machine, it shows the RAID array consisting of the two HD's.

Then I try to install SuSE from the DVD. I chose the custom install. but after probing for the hard disks, I receive the message "No Hard Disks were found for installation. Please check your hardware." It's not detecting the SATA drives in the array.

Apparently I haven't configured this correctly. Can anyone help?

SuSE 9.0 has the 2.4 linux kernel, which seems to have major issues with SATA in general. It won't detect it, or it will then freeze. Can you wait until 9.1 comes out?

Hello,

try this one

http://www.promise.com/support/downl...ry=driver&os=1

Download it, unzip it, and write it on a floppy, then boot the system and choose driver in the first SuSE Boot Menu. After this, the Harddisk was found. Attention , don`t update the Kernel!!! After you do this, the system does not run anymore.

Greetings

Patrick
