Suse 8 users, what do you think?
I am thinking about purchasing Suse 8 for some variety in my Linux experience. Is it worth it? What are the advantages over Red Hat 8, which I currently use?

Moved: More Suitable in the Distro Forum as its Distro Specific.

I've always been partial to SuSE as it was the easiest to learn (for me anyways). I started with 6.0. I've purchased both Red Hat and SuSE 'off the shelf' and I found SuSE's documentation to be quite reader-friendly. IMO I got my money's worth every time.

I have tried Red Hat, Mandrake, and SuSE of various versions. I am currently using 8.1 Professional of SuSE, and I have personally found that 8.0 has less problems than 8.1. However, both are very install friendly and basically user friendly.

It's a good buy, but get 8.1, or you can wait until like April 15 when 8.2 is released.

Well since SuSE is the only distro I have used I picked Very good distro, worth the purchase. Very easy install & a great distro for the first time linux user.

Go for it!

How about easier and prettier installations (YaST2),
Nicer CLI and GUI (beautified KDE3.1 + XFree 4.3), Optimized athlon kernel (k_athlon 2.4.20), Lates apps... With SuSE Linux 8.2 is comming up, it save buy from my success record (since SuSE Linux 7.0) Have a lot of fun :-) |
it's good but i'd wait for 8.2.

Thanks for the feedback. I will buy 8.2 when it comes out.
Edit: Oh yeah. I signed the petition and forwarded that link to everybody I know. We must defeat this attack on our freedom... Thanks for the link.. |
