hi. i bought suse 8 at compusa, it has i believe 7 cd and dvd. the install i did use 4 cd,s, though i don,t set up anything fancy like apache, sambra, which may requie you to use more cd,s. the big dissappointment i have with suse 8 is that they didn,t include raid, i don,t know what they are thinking about. lot of use use raid, i have it set up on red hat 7.2, and it is a lot faster using raid 0. the sue sound drivers are pretty good, my harmon kardon 695 sound very good. a plus for suse 8. i also have downloaded mandrake 8.2 , iso download, i really like mandrake 8.2 so far, though i have red hat 7.2 and suse 8 installed, may reinstall 8.2 later when i can get a manual. mandrake is very easy to install, the easiest i have used.

I got to about 40% of the first CD, but that's all, the speed really sucked (~3-4kb/s) and I got repeatedly disconnected with my line being taken by somebody else before I even had a chance to reconnect.
Anyone knows any other links??
I know there are ISO images circling on eDonkey2000, but all those I've found are incomplete (30-40 megs), and trust me I've been looking, plus I've heard from others that at least some of them are fake, so....a fast ftp link would be appreciated Or if someone knows a server/hub on either eDonkey2000 or Direct Connect where I can find complete ISO images
Anyway, how come this open source distro Suse 8 is harder to get hold of on the net than M$ products like XP?? Isn't that a bit strange?? Couldn't they at least release a CD version without a fancy box and manuals for those of us who don't have a lot of money to spend but still want the best Linux can offer? Damn greedy Suse
the prof edition costs only £48 with 1-3 days free delivery.
I haven't regret buying it. Its 7 CDs and DVD, and three books very useful for those that just came in the LinuxWorld, for the rest is just something that useful for the Fireplace in the home
I think you should buy it, you can care the cost with someone else.
Downloading windows is easy, SURE but its only 500MB..
Suse is 650x7 = u do the maths..

So can anyone post a copy of his cds in ISO format in an ftp/http/ssh space to download them
This makes me sick. I thought Linux users were different, but now people want to resort to illegal activities instead of waiting 3 bloody weeks for SuSE 8.0 to be officially available from FTP.
Really, you don't belong to the Linux community I'm so passionate about if you feel requesting something illegal on an open message board is reasonable behaviour. There are plenty of free (as in beer) Linux distributions available, but instead you want to fleece one of the best and most dedicated Linux distributions of the little money they get.
Just go back and use your Warez copy of Windows 2000 and Office XP...
raid tools , great, will check out , i just installed it and haven,t time to check a lot of things out. i am getting to like suse 8 quite a bit, seems like a very good distro. i didn,t like the desktop theems but got some good ones here. kde-look.org. later thanks for the help

well I asked 4 a ISO version . .I cannot install it from the hdd I have no space ...
And just for your info the suse never provides the ISOs in the ftp.

and all i need is the personal only
Have SuSE 8 Pro on my desk, 7 CDs and One DVD. The DVD contains all the installation material of the other 7 discs. Someday I hope to install without the LILO errors

that is what he meant, suse doesn't give out iso's since most likely that is against their license for their distro. so creating a iso image for someone to download is illegal according to suse.
