you won't find the iso's anywhere.. if you want it free.. either get someone to burn it for you or download via ftp.. or buy it of course. SuSE doesn't release iso's for download, only the live evaluation version.

safrout 04-26-2002 06:03 PM

and how can

i use this live evaluation version kan u tell me

what shall i do if i want t burn them on a cd

sapilas 04-27-2002 07:27 AM

:D

well why can't you just download over ftp??? it's not exactly hard...

sapilas 04-27-2002 08:49 AM

well its hard..

1. I have a modem connection which sucks...
2. I have to download it from the library (quite fast), but I have to transfer the files at home with zip-follpies in 100MB each,( I have only 7 zip-discs
3. I have only one partition in fat32 , I use it to store personal files and be able to access it from both win32 + linux
4. but that partition is only 5GB , which is not enough to put the linux stup files in it, and start the installation from the disc.

5. I am not sure if I will manage to setup my printer and web cam so I might get back to slackware and waste £45 to buy something that is gonna be old in a few months.

So I think its much easier if someone make the ISOs available..,,,
otherwise I can say linux sucks.......(just suitable to run server applications only, but not 4 my everyday workstation) windows are never gonna be abandoned cause make file easy...

safrout 04-27-2002 09:00 AM

ya plz

anyone can do it for the sack of all users with bad connection

pllzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

sapilas 04-27-2002 09:12 AM

well its late for me now :)

just bought it....

results after thurday with the suse8 installation..

I have a variety of hardware installed,

winTV-hauppage-pci
usb webcam creative
cd-r (I have made that work before)
hp printer
3D graphics

if I manage to install them all I will be glad to erase win32 from my harddrive for the next years...

sapilas 04-27-2002 01:15 PM

btw if suse 8 is 8 discs ..........

How much disc space does a

minimum,a normal and a full istall requires ??

just to be ready to repartition . . :)

safrout 04-27-2002 06:17 PM

mmmmmmm?

so which cd i need for a normal user on SuSe i am not a programmer or anything and will not have a server on my computer just OS only
can anyone help me

and what shall i do with this files with extension .NRG

how shall i burn it

sapilas 04-28-2002 05:34 AM

the nrg is ISO format . . .its the way that nero (I think) use to save the images..

try to rename them to .iso and open them with the "winimage" program to be sure that they are ISOs..

or just try to burn them . . . as image files.. the burning software usually tells you if the format is invalid..

safrout 04-28-2002 06:43 AM

ok

but which cds i need frm the 7 just to have the personal version

are thrm thr first 3 only or which of them

sapilas 04-28-2002 07:49 AM

3 years ago when I tried for first time suse it was 5 CDS, of which 4 where the installation and the 5th was the live_CD- that is used for demontrations...

I am not sure if suse is 8 or 9 CD total. I will find it out in 3 days when I receive my ordered copy :)

For sure you need the first 7 CDs... what difference does it make if you download one more :)

About the personal version I dont know what you have to do cause I havn't got the cds yet..

There must be an option to do a workstation installation or a server one... But I believe the packages will be mixes up among all cds..

you can check the suse site to see how many CDs its suse8

safrout 04-28-2002 08:42 AM

hey

i checked the site and founf that suse prof. is 7 cds
and the personal one is 3

and all i need is the personal only
