Unhappy Suse 8.2 and intel8x0 can't get sound to work

Anyone succesfful in getting sound to work in Suse 8.2 with the intel8x0 chip? I've tried following the directions found on the the alsa-project.org web site but to no avail.

If you do have it working Iwould really appreciate detailed steps you took to get it up and running.

It depends upon your mother board version.

Finally got sound working. I'm using an Intel D865GBF motherboard. I was able to follow the instructions on the alsa- project.org site for the intel sound card. I found the problem was that the cord to the sound card was plugged in the wrong jack!
