Hi
I am looking for a USB scanner that will plug in and work with SuSE 8.0. I can't find any of the ones listed as supported on the SuSE website. I am in the UK. Are there any UK SuSE 8.0 users out there that can suggest a scanner that will work with minimum fuss.
My old mustek_pp scanner won't work - I think it might actually be broken. I borrowed a PrimaScan 2600u last night and that wouldn't work.
Perhaps the Microtek 3800 would work? It's not listed on the SuSE site BUT loads of Microtek scanners are.
Help!!
Rather than checking out SuSE's hardware lists, why not check out SANE's? SANE is the Scanner Access Now Easy project - the principle way of using scanners under Linux.
Definitely use the SANE site for compatibles and Backends for whatever scanner you go with. Being kind of a noob, Just came off a 3 week nightmare of a tour with an Epson 2450 Photo USB scanner. Use all the links that Sane provides and also use the SuSe doc's for setting up USB support. Most everything refers to ver's 7.1-7.3 but I finally manged to get it up and going and is working rather well now. But I can't really tell you exactly what I did specifically because it just kind of starting working! I know that sounds kind of crazy. But......
