SteamOS - Brewmaster and disabling APM permanently for 1090T overclocking

Good afternoon,

I have been doing some readings related to CPU throttling issues with overclocks on AMD cpus and there is a fix that is a simple cmd executable in windows but this option would involve modifying the kernel in for SteamOS.

Is there an easier way to permanently disable APM w/o kernel compiling (of which I am an extreme novice) and not even sure it would leave SteamOS in a working state?

Thanks much

APM is neither supported by any Windows version after Vista, nor has it full support in any Linux kernel after version 3.3. Please be more specific what you mean.

I can't look at my steamos box right now and I don't know systemd but there is a command you can run using systemctl to turn off apmd and then disable it at startup.

I don't think it will be a problem to turn it off, it's no longer used by a lot of distros.
