Some suggestions
Hey there,
Well, I installed a copy of lite 3.0 on a Optiplex GX270 late last year, it now has 1GB of RAM as to the 512mb before.
I'm puzzled as to what could make of out using this alternative system to windows 7. I doubt nothing to heavy.
I used blender 3D on windows XP for some mini game development, it wasn't of any success due to there not being much information on how to create certain effect especially without knowing how to program in python. But that aside, producing content isn't a challenge if one is very talented.
Other than that. I'm using limited old hardware. Two optiplex systems, and one old Dimension 4600. Of course I use windows 7 on the optiplex 780 small form factor.
Thank you for hints and tips.

Might have enough resources on the Windows 7 system to run a free virtual machine. Then you can play with a number of distros quickly.

Erm,
Why would I want to use any of those, when I have the lite version? I simply don't know what to make of it now. I can browse the web on it, that is cool. But compared to windows 7, what am I getting for using it?
Other than may be programming on it, which I can't do any system. I just feel like I don't know what purpose I have to use that system. Its nice to be able to use an old system, its completely out of date with windows XP. That is still on there, as it is a dual setup.

Linux lite.
I was just inquiring as to what purpose could I have for using that system. I'm on windows 7, using a newer system. So I just don't know what I can gain from using lite on the older system. At the time when I did install it, it was new to me, I tried it for a short time, and then only returned to using it last week when I installed the memory on it. As when I did install it, I took it from other system I have XP on.

What are you getting for using lite?
You are getting a free os that evidently runs well on your older pc, right?
With Virtual Box you could try as many distributions for free and decide from there what Linux distro you'd like to run.
Since XP is not longer supported and you have Linux already installed on that older pc.......
you could do programming. You'll have to start learning Linux and keep in mind that with Linux there is a commitment. Learn Python or C++.

only ONE person could possibly answer that question.
and that person seems to be too confused to do it.

Yes that is correct it running on an older system. There isn't much memory, but yes appeared to run smoother than XP did.
Yeah I don't know what purpose I could use it for, I don't now have one. Well, its a July 2003 manufactured system with a March 2002 hard drive in it.
I was surprised to read that. Two of the capacitors are knackered. So, yeah what ever.
Thank you.

Glad to hear that Linux Lite runs better on that older machine than XP did.
You could use Lite just to go online and do simple things.

Okay then.
But yes, a backup system, temporarily that is, is what I can save this for. Unlikely I'll ever need it.
Thank you.

An opinion you might have, but voicing it in a constructive way takes skill. You need to practice more.
