Ok I booted from the Slackware 8.1 cd... ran cfdisk got an error message

Bad logical partition 6: Partition ends after end of disk

Then I went into fdisk...

there was a ? mark in the boot field of hda7 with an id 70 and system DiskSecure MultiBoot

How did that get there?

hda8, hda9 and hda10 were no longer in the partition table
