Slackware 9.0 compared to Red Hat 9.0?
I got Red Hat 9 and have no clue how to use it. So im downloading Slackware 9.0 right now.

How similar/different are the two?

stick with red hat
red hat is MUCH more userfriendly... if it confuses you, slackware will just make you give up...

slackware is one of the most advanced (read: 1337) linux distro's and all configuration is dont through editing text files...

again, i strongly urge you to stay with red hat, or try another user friendly distro (mandrake, suse, knoppix...)

Red Hat 9 is easier to use. Boot to the first ISO and just use the graphical anaconda installer, simple.

Hi Underworld

Go with Red Hat 9 or Mandrake 9.1 to start with - if you find you like using Linux - then try the more involved Slackware

Red Hat 9 is easier to install but Slackware is more powerful and stable.

Red Hat is a better option for a new user.
