Root issue in Acro Linux
I installed Acro Linux a few days ago and alls been great except a issue with cursors which I fixed, but in the process I believe I may have messed up Root or something else. I went to launch GParted and it would not launch, so I tried through Konsol and got.
Code:
[alienprober@TheMothership ~]$ gparted
localuser:root being added to access control list
Error executing command as another user: Not authorized
This incident has been reported.
localuser:root being removed from access control list
[alienprober@TheMothership ~]$
I then attempted to run it with sudo and it rand, but I got the below.
Code:
[alienprober@TheMothership ~]$ sudo gparted
[sudo] password for alienprober:
Unit \xe2\x97\x8f.service does not exist, proceeding anyway.
Unit \xe2\x97\x8f.service does not exist, proceeding anyway.
Unit \xe2\x97\x8f.service does not exist, proceeding anyway.

Unit \xe2\x97\x8f.service does not exist, proceeding anyway.
Unit \xe2\x97\x8f.service does not exist, proceeding anyway.
GParted 1.1.0
configuration --enable-libparted-dmraid --enable-online-resize
libparted 3.3
Decided to test root by opening System Settings and going to SDDM and changing the login screen, and when I did I was not asked for the password. Any idea of what might be causing this issue? I've even done a reboot to see if that rectify the issue, but it didn't. Thanks

No it's a straight up install. On user screen of installed name, username, machine name, password, same password for root, auto-login.

That's weird and requires some research I think (although it shouldn't affect gparted functionality).

Yeah don't log into a gui as root.
There's no actual issue afaics.
You can still log in as a normal user?
The root account is probably disabled. Use sudo instead, you're slightly less likely to break things.

when I click on GPated's shortcut I should be present with a box to enter my password, same when I go to change my Login screen. If I launch Konsole and enter gparted there I should be asked to enter my password not have to enter sudo gparted to get the password prompt. SO yes there is a problem.

@ondoho just went to use Pamac to do a hand full of updates and I get Authorization Failed which mean whatever polls the system to open a root password dialog box is not working correctly.

OK, do this:
Open the gparted.desktop file (probably in /usr/share/applications)
and find the Exec= line.
Execute the command you see in a terminal, and show us what it spits out.

localuser:root being added to access control list

gparted cannot run as regular user, you need to run it as root.

I never said I was trying to run it as a regular user. Now that said I just tried to run Stacer and it won't launch, trying to launch it by using sudo i get:
Code:
[root@TheMothership alienprober]# stacer

Got tired of trying to find a solution, so rolled they system back to the 31st. Other than setting up Emby, Sonarr, Radarr, and Jacket I'm where I was before I messed Roots permissions. I evren lucked out with keeping my Plasma tweaks and my selected cursors and theme. Thanks for trying to help, much appreciated.

Who are you when you try this? Not root I assume?
When I try that, I get a different message:
Code:
$> whoami; gparted
ondoho
Error executing command as another user: No authentication agent found.
So I start an authentication in another terminal:
and try again:
And voilá, it works.

This is what I currently get with "whoami; gparted", but since I rolled back when I click any GUI that should prompt me for my password the password box comes up, enter my password, and the app lsaunches.
Code:
[alienprober@TheMothership ~]$ whoami; gparted
alienprober
localuser:root being added to access control list
Unit \xe2\x97\x8f.service does not exist, proceeding anyway.
Unit \xe2\x97\x8f.service does not exist, proceeding anyway.
GParted 1.1.0
configuration --enable-libparted-dmraid --enable-online-resize
libparted 3.3
When I close GParted with Konsole still open then this.
Code:
localuser:root being removed from access control list
"polkit-kde-agent" is already installed.

Archlinux, and distros based on it, are not for Linux beginners. Even if the distro's devs might hope so.
I suggest you chalk it up to experience, reinstall a more beginner-friendly distro and be more careful until you learned the ropes. Unlike $PROPRIETARY_OS, GNU/Linux comes without a safety belt.

Lets please keep the opinions on what I'm running to ones self. I made an honest mistake with one file that I since rectified by rolling the system back. I truly appreciate the attempt to help, and if I hadn't chose to rollback you may of been helpful. As for how long I've been on Linux, that is on and off for 25 year and 3+ years ago I felt Linux was finally ready for prime-time and dropped Windows altogether and haven't looked back.
