Rolling release distribution
Hello, i would like to suggest me a good rolling release distribution. I use ubuntu, but I would like a distribution that allows me to tinker more with stuff and learn more about linux instead of offering an out-of-the-box OS
Thank you |
Hi,
This one is the newest kid on the block I believe: Linux Mint Debian Edition Quote:

What is the difference between debian and arch?

Like cars...?
Think of a car that you build from scratch, using some default components, can either be 100 hp or 350+ hp, you pick your engine, the interior furnitures, the suspensions, tires, the chassis framework to be suited to the weight of your components and the power of your engine, the instruments for your panel... etc. a car like the Lotus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotus_Elise, the Donkervoort, in termos of a Linux Distro, think of Arch, or Crux, or BLFS Now think of a standard factory produced car from one major car producer, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus... this is Debian... Clarified now...? |
I'd second the Debian Testing or Arch recommendation. Arch is more bleeding edge, Debian (despite being the testing branch) more stable. IMO, Debian probably a LITTLE easier to get set up and running, but either one is actually quite easy if you read through their pages, or go to various forums and get quick install guides made by users.
