Jun 9 17:18:45 ok1 sendmail[1848]: alias database /etc/aliases rebuilt by root
Jun 9 17:18:45 ok1 sendmail[1848]: /etc/aliases: 63 aliases, longest 10 bytes, 625 bytes total

As root, do "hostname -i", that's your IP address, now do "hostname -f", that's your canonical hostname (FQDN). Now open up /etc/hosts and make sure you have a line "<IP> <FQDN> <alias>" and fill it in. Alias in this case is "bonsai".

I guess I'm really confused now.
I get back localhost-127.0.0.1

Can I not set a host name for this machine and where?
Does it matter that there are two NIC's?

Are you connected to any network? Can you check the output from "ifconfig" for each interface that connects to a network other than loopback?

This is a picture of my network (or at least what I hope it to be)--> http://209.151.74.115/pic/lan.jpg

ifconfig show both nics configured.

Any help here? My host name is not a qualified domain name, just the name of my Linux box.

Ok, so your Cayman hands out DHCP leases, right?
Just checking your connectivity: are you able to ping, traceroute and resolve addresses outside the LAN, like google.com? Any box inside the LAN? If you do "netstat -an | grep sendmail" does the address say "127.0.0.1" (default RH Sendmail config to only listen on the loopback)?

I think I found the answer to my question in this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=61719

But to answer your question, no the cayman is bridged to just act like a modem and hub. I'm getting DHCP leases from the Linux box.
