Replacement Distro for RedHat 9 Pro ?

Hello,

I'm trying to evaluate Suse 9.1 Pro as a server solution using PostgreSQL and as a mail server. I'd read somewhere that 9.2 Pro does not have any server components, so I don't know for sure if it can act as mail server/samba server by installing source. Since Suse is not freeware, I don't know if they have somehow restricting customizing 9.2 for server use.

I'm looking to replace three RedHat 9 Pro machines, and a friend of mine in Atlanta is doing the same thing. He chose Suse 9.1.

If anyone out there is using Suse 9.1 Pro as a mail server, Samba server, and/or PostgreSQL, how is it working out for you?

If not Suse, what are your recommendations for a secure, inexpensive distro to replace RedHat 9?

Thanks for any advice,

Slackware 10
Slack is meant to be a server, comes with samba, you can easily download a postgresql package from www.linuxpackages.net it is version 7.4.3

I've seen people using Fedora for servers lately, I wouldn't have thought it the best option but it seems to be working out alright. Mandrake also offer an enterprise edition or if this was for something serious you could look at RedHat Enterprise.

by the way.... if you're completely insane... you could try FreeBSD.
I may have just started actually using it today but I'm impressed with it so far..

however... you might not be quite prepared for what it can throw at you.. and it's not linux. but other than that I recommend it.

if not I say slackware..

I say ArchLinux (i may sound funny here, but i'm not)
Its got the latest of all worlds.
Try it and u'll love it.
If not, then slackware.

Btw, DrWallace, Happy birthday
