reinstalling

Hi all

I have mandrake9.1 and windows. I use lilo to load.

I have messed up a lot mandrake and most things do not work. Thats the first time I use linux and to learn....
Now I think that the best I can do is to reinstall Mandrake again but I realiced that I have no idea.
I have two questions. Do I need to do something like fdisk but in linux terms? If so what?
And how I make sure I do not erase Windows and install Linux in the right partition?
And of course if there is something else I should be aware of please tell me.

Thanks a lot.

fdisk in linux is fdisk ;-) (or cfdisk, or sfdisk or driskdrake or... or..)

as for reinstalling, you can just install it again the same way you installed it last time. mandrakes installatin is very protective, and you should be fine to overwrite the existing partitions. maybe i'm missing somethign here though if you've already installed it once.

Just boot off the cd as you did the first time you installed, pick an install not an upgrade, then custom partitioning, and reformat the current partitions you're using. :)

Cool
So I just put the cd, reestart, and as installing for the fisrt time?

Thats the first easy-thing in linux :)

Yeah, change the boot options to boot off cd, and turn off Plug and Play as usual. They begin reinstalling. It'll detect the current install but pick to install again. Basically you repeat the install process and it'll wipe the old install in the process if you want it to. :)
