Some older CDROM drives (like the one in my Toshiba 440 CDT) can not boot from redhat disc 1. I always have to use a boot floppy for that. However, booting from the Windows 98 disc or Windows XP disc works fine. Also, some drives work well with some particular disc brands and not at all with others. A relative of mine has an older 24x RICOH CDROM drive and it can't boot from Memorex discs at all. (CDR or CDRW)

If you have donwloaded the ISO image file ,do not try to add any file into it.
the brother at the top of this article must been add some files into the ISO image, I think he want to save CD-R to burn much more.
The best burning software is nero, my version is 5.5.9.9 .

I used Easy CD Creator when I burned the iso's for my install.

Locate the file, double click, then click burn. Could it get any easier?

Don't forget to remove Windows before installing
(optional of course but better if you really want to learn Linux)

Easy CD creator is easy to use, but it doesn't work well on some computer. For stable, I chose nero 5.5.10.0.
By the way , someone who have installed SuSE Enterprise Server 8? It's really more powerful and easy to use.

I have reno 5.5.7.1.
When I choose New->New Compilation
from the left list: Is that the choice CD-ROM(boot) ? (some
other confused me is CD_ROM(UDF-ISO), that has anyhting to do with those *.iso files?

If you have done that, I would like to know what did you choose
for field under under tabs, olike ISO, etc.

Thanks

Smile ISO CDs

Try this and follow it exactly using nero

Start Nero
Choose the menu command "File"->"Burn Image"
An "Open" file dialog box appears with the following image types supported (*.nrg, *.iso, *.cue)
Select your download LinuxISO file and click Open
The "Write CD" dialog box appears with several tabs (Info, Foreign image, Misc, Burn).
Click the 'Burn' Tab
Confirm that 'Write' and 'Finalize' are selected
Click on "Write". Watch it burn.

I couldn't get anything to work then I did the above and hey presto and it worked!

Red Hat CDs

I presume if you've downloaded 2 cds then you're not using a 56k connection. If so then download the iso disks from red hat there are plenty of mirrors to choose from - by the way you only need the first 3 disks. To verify your download use cygwin if you download it on windows (which I think you are using) cygwin allows you to run unix commands on windows. Navigate to the directory that you downloaded to and run checksum followed by the download file name to verify your download. The numbers cygwin returns should match the numbers on the readme file on the same page as the iso downloads. Once you've done that you must burn the cds using the method I mentioned in the previous message. If your cd has a copy of the iso file then you haven't followed the instructions I mentioned previously. I wont go into how iso images work but nero knows what to do when you tell it you want to burn an iso an not just make a copy.

Good luck

Fully.

Smile iso images

You're welcome, the more people that can be helped the better. Stick with it as it's worth it in the long run especially when companies see the popularity and more start making software for Linux.
