RedHat 6.2 SMP?

Hello all,

My company is using a java app server that is only compatible for RH 6.2. (we are going to upgrad to 7.x in 6 months or so) but we are currently looking to upgrade the hardware to a dual Intel PIII 1.0 GHz box.

My question does anyone know of any issues with SMP and redhat 6.2?

Thanks,
Heath

redhat 6.2 and SMP should have no problems at all. You might want to upgrade to a 2.4 kernel, but it is not neccessary.

Thanks for the info,

We are running IBM Websphere Application server (JAVA) v3.5.4. When we move to WAS 4.0 or 5.0 we will have to upgrad to Linux 7.1 or above. We will probably do this by the end of the year.

Hi. I ran my duel p3 600 on RH6.2 and I had no problems. Just like jeremy said, upgrading to the latest kernel ought to be a better, for some extra support for higher number of cpus and better SMP support has been added to the new 2.4.x kernel. Just as an extra thought. :)
