i have downloaded red hat 7.3, but i have the sams red hat 7.2 book, 1000 pages. will the red hat 7.2 book teach most of the things about red hat or do i need to get the red hat 7.3 book because of the different versions
i can get it on the internet for $31 with the install disks. i quess these disks are the same as the iso downloads from what i told.
haha... my sentiments exactly... but y'know i'd suggest leaving off computer books entirely... the internet's full of stuff for this kind of thing.
go to www.google.com and type in your search. it's bound to be there somewhere...

If the Sams book your refferring to is the rh7.2 unleashed one then I can reccomend it as an invaluable reference aid, its very handy and extremely informative.
But so are these message boards, and as tundra points out there are many sources of info on the internet.
yup, it,s the sams. i have also looked at the red linux 7.3 bible, and there was another one. i seem to like the sams the best from what i observe
i read tundra,s message, i have heard from him before, he doesn,t believe in books. ha ha. i quess one can find everything on the internet that,s in the book . quess i,m too lazy to look for it.
later, i accidently removed kpackage from red hat 7.3 and need to re-install it or do a reinstall. dummy me
I'ts good to see that some people understand that you have to buy good books to understand how to use your free operating system. I have a theory that it's the source of most frustration on this forum - free operating system means easy to use and very powerful (i.e. you can wipe your entire system with rm -rf / but it shouldn't be too easy to do that. Hmm.)
quess i don,t mind paying $30 for something like sams red hat 7.3. i would think red hat is probably get some of it, and a 1000 page book on top of it. sometimes at frys electronics you can get super deals, i got the pc upgrade and repair for $14. what a steal.
i was going to upagrade the kde destop to 3.02, but i accidently wiped out the kpackage manager. tryed to install kde 3.02 through the terminal using the rpm,s command. no luck for some reason.
later. going to kde-look.org and grab me my favorite background.
not that i don't believe in books... i'm just strapped for cash.
and anyway, i found the net more useful than books. you can find different people explaining things in a variety of ways and then you can try it out yourself. l learn fastest like that... in any case, i bought a linux book once (when i was still quite newbie) and realized that they just pulled some chunks off the LDP Howtos and put in into a book... felt ripped off...
