Red Hat 9 Installation
 

I first have to admin that I am a Linux newbie. I use windoze and played with OS X (which got me involved with a little unix) I downloaded the Shrike distribution - Burned the Cd's and for some reason they do not autostart. I tried this on a couple of machines at home and a couple at work. I then downloaded the boot disk which seems to boot fine but when I tell it to install from the CD it can't find. I then re burnt the 1st CD and still haveing the same problem... anyone have any ideas..
I guess the next question would be a network install and will it work if I expand the ISO to a second drive. how would I run the install. with the boot floppy?

Did you set the CD-ROM drive to be first in the boot order in your setup?

Yes.. sorry i didn't mentioned.. But I did set the boot order in the bios to cd first.

how did you burn the image? Did you burn the *.iso file to the CD as *.iso or did you use a program that knows how to open an .iso image for burning?

It has a Windoze version of "cdrecord". Be sure to grab the DLL for it too.

I figured it out.. For some reason my cd drive in thast machine is not recognizing autostart. I burnt a cd. tried it inthe machine and it still didn't work. i tried on another system and it worked fine. I then created the boot disk from the cd's bootimg and it found the cd fine.
anyway.... thanks everyone for the feedbacks...

That's cool the way that "el torrito" emulates a floppy, so it works just the same when you copy the boot image to a regular floppy.
