It's my understanding that Progeny is no longer being actively developed. You may find it easier to install (I wouldn't know) & then migrate to Debian Potato/Woody/Sid.

I will soon begin working on a project that may be of interest to those wanting to install Debian Woody, the project I have planned is simply a graphical net installer for Debian that includes the ability to partition and format using the available filesystem types ext2, ext3, ReiserFS, and SGI XFS.

Tried it and was generally quite impressed. It seems to have captured the Debian base and applied an almost RedHatesque overlay. There appear to be very, very few distros based from Debian (possible because it isn't backed by a company), but I reckon (note: oppinion, no flames please) that it is one of the better ones.

I did have a few problems installing, but that was mainly due to the fact that I already had a distro in and I didn't want to get rid of my nice lilo.conf that was already in place. It seems that they didn't take into account that someone may have multiple distros already on their machine - I think perhaps they were aiming at Windows users for their 1st distro.

In general I liked it, but I started with Mandy and tend not to use too many others (except Slack), so it didn't stay on the HD too long.

Progeny stopped producing their Debian-based distribution: http://www.progeny.com/archive/debian/

But the improvements that Progeny made to the Debian system can now be found in Debian itself, most notably the PGI -- Progeny Graphical Installer http://packages.debian.org/pgi. I am quite confident that there will be official Debian CDs that feature PGI.

I created an ISO of Woody that uses the PGI installer and it works quite well, I just have to write a script that allows you to make XFS and ReiserFS partitions from the graphical menu and it will be ready for release to anyone who wants it.
