I've just installed Red hat 7.2, but when I start up it goes to the command prompt rather than X, which I had set it to go to. I'm pretty sure it's having problems with my monitor. I'm running this on my laptop, which has an XGA TFT LCD monitor with 1024x768 resolution and 16.7 million colors. When I was installing I wasn't sure which monitor to list wherein lies the problem. Does red hat support this kind of monitor? Thanks.
Try to run
Xconfigurator
from console mode. Try different settings and test them.
If still problems, post your monitor brand and type, maybe someone here is using a similar one...
I'm not quite sure exactly what the make and brand of the laptop are....it's an i-buddie 4 laptop with a 15" XGA TFT LCD monitor - I however didn't get any other information about it....
Also, it has a "Built-in SiS 315 graphic core, Share Memory Architecture supports up to 64MB DDR frame buffer" on the "SiS 650ST / SiS 961 " chipset....
