PClinuxOS - Burning

Hello everyone:

I have a few of questions.

1.) PClinuxOS is offered on several download mirrors. I went to them, and most of them have two choices, one with "NV" in the name (a larger file) and one without. Can I assume that the NV choice just offers a few more features?

Have a look here: http://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/linux/pclinux...glish/preview/

2.) When Ihe download is complete and I want to burn the ISO image onto CD, do I use a CD-RW or a CD-R? Does it make a difference?

3.) Which would be the best program to use for burning ISOs? K3B? Nautilus Burner? etc . .

Thanks.

1. don't know, sorry

2. depends on you. If you want to reuse the cd, use a RW. If you don't (or want to pass it on) use an R

3. if you are already using Linux, either one (K3B is my preference because I use KDE.

The 'nv' means it has the nvidia drivers.

I have had a little play with PClinuxOS. As a LiveCD, it's fine. It beats Knoppix or MandrakeMove in my view.

I've tried twice to install it, the first time it corrupted the partition! Instead of reiserfs, I tried ext3, this time it seemed to install OK but OpenOffice would not run, crashing every time and no matter how I tried to run it.

I might give it another go. It has correctly detected my hardware, seems to have my Prism2_usb-based wlan going (for the first time, though I'll have to install it on my laptop also so that there is something to communicate with). You cannot select your own packages, but the default selection is excellent, and should be easily added to.
