whohas is a command line tool that allows you to query several package collections at once.

Currently supported are Arch Linux, Debian, Fedora, Gentoo, Slackware, Source Mage, FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD.

Using this tool, you can easily determine which distribution has the packages that you particularly rely on, which has the most up to date packages and so on. For the majority of supported distros, a hyperlink to the distributor's package information will be included in case you need to find out more.

is it possible to make the tool search on unofficial sites, like linuxpackages.net for slackware?

The current roadmap, which I've yet to make public, includes a yum/apt-get plug-in architecture as a milestone in the medium distant future. I'm not sure if linuxpackages.net is similarly reachable through a package installer (slapt-get or one of the others?).

As of version 0.11, whohas contains a template for you to make your own module to any extra repositories or websites that you want. Please do submit any modules that you write, back to me. I reserve the right not to include it in the official release of whohas (or maybe just not enable it by default), but if it's not too slow and people want it, it's in, and your name will be acknowledged on the project home page,

Cool! I would personally only use it to wonder if package X is somewhere else, like in freshmeat, and alien it.
