Only Yast when logged in as root

Hi,

I am a newbie to linux, but this installation of mine was working quite good until today.

I am runing Suse 9.1 with KDE 3.2 and whenever i try to login as root only Yast comes up in my screen with no panel, no terminal, simply nothing. And when i close Yast, it logs me off and comes back to the login screen.

When i log in as a normal user everything's fine. I tried logging in as a user then switching to root but the same thing happened.

Anyhelp would be appreciated, thank you.

What happens when you log in a text mode screen as root? Does it launch yast2 also?
You can reach another tty by doing Ctrl+Alt+F(X) where 1 <= X <= 8.
Log in as root. If it launch yast2, just exit it. If you can get a root prompt, try to startx.
