Non partition install for PPC?

hi guys. I know theres topologilinux for x86 that just installs to a folder. im curious if something like that exists for powerPC.

Im running a dual g5 powermac, and im curious to see how DVD encoding would be if i compiled it from source. I want to take advantage of 2x64bit CPUs, rather than OSX's 64bit CLI only setup..

i use FFMPEGX on OSX, it has the option to use MPEG2enc, is it possible to compile that for 64bit osx? since its command line only and FFMPEGX is just the front end to it?

little confused guys, thanks in advance.
