NO volume control but Sblive on KDE3 sound works

Hi.
I have a strange problem. I am running SuSE 8.0 Pro and an Sblive5.1 DE.
The problem is that my sound works properly in all applications like xmms and xine dvd player and ut2003 etc; however, when I try to change the VOLUME of PCM or WAV or MASTER it has no effect.

This is strange as I have sound.
SuSE YAST Audio setup detects and initialises the soundcard but I cannot change the volumes at all. When I 1st installed SuSE, I had Volume control, but now that does not work.

The Volume at the moment is acceptable but it is only a reflection of the last time I could set the volume so I would like to know if anyone has come up with this problem?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Doomy.

Hi Vladrack
Since u mentioned it i tried it but no luck.
I may just add that Alsamixergui gives me all the pcm/spdif options to control and if I change the option called "WAVE" it changes the volume

MASTER and PCM do not work.

I am using the SPDIF out into a Kenwood Dolby Digital 5.1 Receiver and I tried analogue out (5.1 analogue to 5.1 analogue on Reciever) and the volumes MASTER and PCM now work. It is only when I use Stereo PCM out on SPDIF do I have no control over the volume except in alsamixergui on option "WAVE"
As a test I opened Aslamixergui and XMMS and changed the volume on XMMS and the PCM volume control on Alsamixergui moved in sync. So I dont think its a hardware problem but one of configuration of the asla drivers for sblive(especially on SPDIF out.)

Thanks for the tip and I hope someone out there can shed more light on this behavior.

Doomy.
