No keyboard or mouse after kernel 2.4 configuration
Anyone can help me on this I would much appreciate.
I tried for my first time to reconfigure my 2.4.22 kernel (slack 9.1) and lost use of the keyboard and mouse in X. I can use it in a shell just not in X. I went back over the .config and found it selected as a kernel driver not loadable module so I changed that to loadable. After recompiling I still had no mouse or keyboard. I loaded the module from an ssh session from another machine and waddyaknow, it works. My questions are 1. Why doesn't the keyboard & mouse get recognised under X? 2. Is there a setting in the XF86Config file I missed? 3. What did I miss in the .config file? 4. I'm sure I can load it as a module in modules.conf but haven't looked into that one yet. 5. Have I asked the right questions? Please give me the RTFM is that will point me in the correct direction but if you do then tell me where to look. Much appreciate your help. Chris |
usually when ever I "roll my own kernel"
I reconfigure X..........just to be safe. xf86config .............on the CLI. |
I thought the problem was specific to the X config but wasn't sure. I looked through the config file and couldnt find anything about modules etc so just assumed it was handled by the kernel. Can you give me any hints where it is mentioned in the file?
