Question Network problem in gentoo

Ok I have installed gentoo and have gotten it to boot but now I have another problem I can't get the network or internet to work on gentoo. I use cable modem that is hooked up to a wireless router 2.4ghz type-g with 4 hardwired 10/100 ports. It is connected via cat5e cable to the router, I think it has to do with one of the config files I am not sure. Yes it works when I use the gentoo live cd and I can use links to view websites. So I don't think it has to do with the connection.
Thanks for the help in advance

When you boot up do you see eth0 start? Perhaps you forgot to add net.eth0 to your startup scripts?

rc-update add net.eth0 default

or perhaps eth0 is not configured correctly? Check out /etc/conf.d/net.

Just to check I typed it in and it says-net.eth0 already installed in runlevel default; skipping
So I don't think thats the problem but I don't see it when I boot the computer.

I went into /etc/conf.d/net with nano I believe I have it setup correctly
iface_eth0="dhcp" I think that is correct
dhcpcd_eth0=",,," What goes there
One more thing what are aliases?
Why is ther two iface_eth0=.

Did it work during the install?
When you type "ifconfig -a" does it show eth0?
If not then you may have to patch or recompile with support for the network card as you may have forgot it. If it did work during the install, you can boot off the LiveCD again and type "lsmod" to find out what modules it used to get the network card working.

If when you type ifconfig -a you see eth0, then all you should have to do to get the net working is type "dhcpcd eth0"(if you use dhcp). You can assign a static as well, and give it a default gateway if you like.
Since you said it did show up, you shouldnt have to recompile. As far as the other modules that showed up on the live cd, unless some devices arent working with your install, you probably dont need them. If you used genkernel, then you should have support for all of those modules, and you can get the modules to load add boot time by adding the names of the modules to , /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernerl-version-you-use.
