My box hangs when running boot scripts
Yesterday, my Debian(sid) box stopped working i don't know why.
It hangs when it's loading the system init.d(boot) scripts... It hangs saying eth0: Setting half-duplex based on auto-negotiated partner ability 0000 Thanks in advance, elkrammer.:D |
Could you provide the output of those commands :
dmesg | grep eth0 lspci dpkg -l "kernel-image*" | grep "^ii" uname -r What makes you say it stops at the init.d scripts ? What do you can read just before the message you give here ? |
I'd love to give you that info but as i said, it doesn't even get to the login prompt.
It stops on eth0: setting blablabla i don't get to the login prompt. Before this it just loads the scripts. i can't tell you specifically on what script because i have remove many to see if it's a specific script but it hangs anyway no matter if i remove a script. Thanks in advance, elkrammer. :study: |
Do you have a rescue disk with you ? I f yes, try to boot with it, and get a prompt. Then try also, as root :
grep -i eth /var/log/messages |
Yeah I already tried that but it says the same as i see ( eth0 blablabla)
:( Any other idea? |
Try reseating your ethernet card, if that dosn't help then try with another card, and finally, try it without an ethernet card.
